About Us

The BBA's Agrément Certificates have been providing authoritative and independent information on the performance of building products for over 40 years. Every Agrément Certificate contains important data on durability, installation and compliance with Building Regulations, not just in England and Wales, but in Scotland and Northern Ireland, too.

Assessment involves three distinct areas - laboratory testing (carried out wherever possible to UKAS requirements), site inspections, undertaken by the BBA's own Inspection Services team, and factory production control.

Each of these three elements mirrors in turn a part of the BBA’s operation, Test and Scientific Services, Product Approval and Certification and System Assessment and Inspection.

The BBA is the UK member of the European Union of Agrément (UEAtc), represents the UK in the European Organisation for Technical Approvals, and is responsible for the issue of European Technical Approvals in this country, enabling products - manufactured under an appropriate Attestation of Conformity procedure - to achieve the commercially vital CE marking.

The BBA also offers other services relating to appraisal of installers, certification and product testing - see the menu for more information.

In addition the BBA provides inspection and assessment arrangements in support of the Government-authorised FENSA Competent Persons Schemes for replacement windows and doors.

The BBA has unrivalled Technical expertise in all its areas of activity and benefits from the input of its Governing Board, its Technical Advisory Committee and, of course, is monitored by UKAS.
