The Governing Board of the BBA is made up 4 Executive and 7 Non-Executive directors and is responsible for agreeing policy and overall objectives. The Non- Executives represent a broad cross - section of the UK construction industry , including the NHBC, Trading Standards, the Construction Products Association and Building Control, ensuring that the views of the BBA’s various stakeholder groups are represented at the highest level. The Technical Advisory Committee of the BBA is made up of practising technical professionals from across the construction industry and provides input to BBA management on technical issues. The BBA’s technical operation is audited regularly by UKAS, the United Kingdom Accreditation Scheme – a scheme to ensure that testing is undertaken competently and in a traceable manner. The BBA is accredited for a wide range of assessment , inspection, quality management and testing activities and details of these accreditations can be found by following the appropriate links from the BBA website. When Certificates for new types of products reach the draft stage, they are then sent out to designated local authority building control personnel, to seek comments on the statements made about compliance with Building Regulations. Similarly, drafts are sent to the NHBC for comments from a house building point of view. All this means that the BBA and our Certificates are subject to detailed scrutiny at several levels and at any point in the process - benefiting Certificate holders and users of BBA approved products alike. |
