BBA Technical Structure

Test and Scientific Services provides testing information either in support of applications for BBA approval of products or as the result of one-off test work for manufacturers or others, for product development or to demonstrate particular elements of performance to meet the demands of customers. In addidtion TaSS provides expert scientific advice as part of the BBA approval process or as a stand-alone service.

Product Approvals and Certification involves the technical staff who undertake BBA approvals for products. These are individuals with extensive experience in their respective product areas and in-depth knowledge of the statutory and non-statutory requirements for products and the buildings constructed using them. PAaC also provides technical information for clients wishing to know about CE marking 0f their products .

System Assessment and Inspection is the section of the BBA’s business that carries out factory audits and post-Certificate-issue inspections, as well as installer inspections as part of the BBA’s Approved Installer Schemes , and the FENSA Scheme covering replacement windows and doors. The assessors evaluating electricians in accordance with Part P for the ELECSA Scheme are in the System Assessment and Inspection team and the audit of management systems to ISO 9001 also fall within the SAI remit.
